Rembrandtovy pozdní autoportréty jsou lné “špinavých” barev, které musely současníkům připadat zcela nepřijatelné, a které rezonují spíše s malbou o několik staletí později. Viděl jsem v Amsterdamu velkou výstavu pozdního Rembrandta – neustále mne láká vědět vice o dílech, které vznikaly za všeobecného nezájmu společnosti, vědět vice o lidech, kteří měli sílu dělat věci bez sebemenší šance uspět v dobových souvislostech. Soud doby se zřídkakdy strefoval do černého… 

Rembrandt's late self-portraits are full of "dirty" colors, that seemed for his contemporaries totally unacceptable, and which resonated  more with paintings of a few centuries later. I saw many years ago a large exhibition in Amsterdam of late works by Rembrandt - it always attracts me to know more about the works that were created under the general indifference of society, it always attracts me to know more about the people who have the strength to do things without the slightest chance to succeed in the contemporary context. Court of  time rarely headed for the real art...
